Queen Victoria Public School Quick Bites – September 29

Good afternoon Parents and Guardians

Congratulations Kodiaks! We doubled our Terry Fox Run goal and raised $800 in coins for Cancer Research! Also, congratulations to Mrs. Lautenschlager’s class for raising the most money and will now receive a pizza party!

Parent and community access to QVPS learning space during the school day

The first month of school is in the books. Classroom line-ups are now routine and dismissal family meetings spots have been established.

We have noticed over the past two weeks a steady increase in parents / guardians on the yard during school hours, children at preschool age on our climbers and dogs (leashed) on our yard. We understand the excitement of collaborating with friends and enjoying the warm late-summer weather. After two years of COVID, it’s nice to get together at a community space like QVPS once again.
However, the playground and surrounding QVPS green space, are by extension considered an additional classroom for physical education and play-based activities during supervised hours of 8:30 AM to 3:15 PM.

Parents and community members are not permitted in our outdoor learning space during the supervised school hours without administration approval; similarly to a parent, guardian or community member entering a classroom within our school.

To assist with this, we will attempt to shorten the dismissal time between our early Kindergarten and regular grades 1-6, for an overall shorter wait time.

Don’t forget to establish a family meeting space for all students who exit the south side of our building in grades 2 – 6 at dismissal.
