Dear QVPS Kodiak Community,
I hope this message finds you safe and well. We are deeply aware that many of our families are facing ongoing hardships, and we want to extend our heartfelt sympathy and support during this difficult time. We have heard from several families about the barriers to attending school, and we want to acknowledge the challenges you’re facing.
Understanding that many of our students may not have had the opportunity to shower, tomorrow (Friday) will be Hat Day! We encourage all students to wear a hat and try not to worry about the state of their hair.
Additionally, we are aware that many families have lost access to lunch preparation due to thawing refrigerators and freezers. Tomorrow, our staff will prepare grilled cheese sandwiches for all students attending.

I would like to thank Mr. Grozelle and Mr. Evans for their tireless efforts to clean up the debris in our playground. While they have done an outstanding job, the playground equipment and surrounding trees still need to be inspected for safety. Therefore, the playground will remain closed until further notice, and we will have indoor recesses in classrooms and our gymnasium.
Inside the school, we are warm, and students continue their learning as usual. If there is anything we can do to help your student(s) attend school, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here for you and want to support you in any way we can.
Yours in education,
Bill Thompson, Principal
